Vallabh Vidyanagar was founded in 1946, when everyone in India had already begun to feel the strong fervour of freedom. The founders of Vallabh  Vidyanagar had a grand vision -- progress for the society through education for   the youth of rural India. Our founders had as their model the famous educational   townships of Takshila and Nalanda, from the Golden Age in the history of India. And, over the next few decades, this vision of our founders was realized through team spirit, dedication and hard work.

              Today, after more than half a century   in the life of the township, we are at the threshold of another era. In this age   of the Global Village, when global interdependence and competition are upon us,   we must educate and train our youngsters to keep up and keep pace with the best   and the brightest in the world.

             We must offer programmes of study appropriate to   the modern age, we must maintain high standards of education -- and we must   offer the opportunity of learning to youngsters from Gujarat, India and the   world.

              This is the mission to which Charutar Vidya Mandal, under my   leadership, has dedicated itself.
